Backup and Restore for Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization with Trilio

In this demo, we will explore the integration of Trilio with Red Hat OpenShift

to provide a robust solution for backup and restore of virtual machines.

First of all, we will log into the OpenShift console.

Sign in to Openshift Authentication Realm

We go to the namespace where the virtual machines that we want to operate with

On the left hand menu we can see that the Trilio operator has been installed.

In this example, we will use Minio S3 Bucket Storage.

So we need to create a secret with the credentials to connect to them.

Create Target

And we choose Object Store since we said we are using an S3 bucket for the buck

The venture will be menu as we mentioned earlier.

And then we select the secret we just created.

And finally, we enter the Buckets URL and click Submit.

In the meantime, we can check the progress going to the namespace where the

After some time, the status shows as available and the target is then ready to

Now that we have created the target, let's go back to our virtual machines.

We will create a file in one of them, trigger a backup, and test that the

backup is valid by restoring it to another namespace and checking that the file

Backup a namespace

Now we select the target that we created before.

The backup is now being created and we can monitor the processing of the

overview option of the Trilio backup section on the menu.

We can see progress bar and have a look at the logs.

We can see that the backup has finished now.

Now we are going to restore the backup that we just created and see if it works

First of all, we would create a new namespace where the backup will be restored

The restore has now completed, so let's go and check what he does down.

We can see that the three virtual machines that were in the original namespace

are in the new namespace that we have created.
