Abraham Lincoln was our 16th president and he's, like, super famous for freeing the slaves during the Civil War! He grew up really poor in a log cabin and taught himself to read and write. My history teacher says he was called "Honest Abe" because he always told the truth. He became president in 1861 when the country was falling apart because the North and South were fighting about slavery.
