Picking in Scanner App

Welcome to the Picking section where we'll go through efficient picking workflows.

Here you can see how many orders are ready to pick, how many items in total are ready to pick, specifying if you’re using a tote and how many of them, filters and options for single or batch picking.

📦 Single Order Picking
Pick one order at a time.
Best for simple, low-volume, or urgent orders.

🧺 Multi-Item Batch Picking
Pick items for several orders in one go.
Ideal for efficiency with mixed products.

📥 Item Batch Picking
Pick a large quantity of the same item for multiple orders.
Perfect for repeat SKUs or fast-moving stock.

Tap Show Filters to refine your picking jobs list.

Filter picking jobs by specific client or batch for smarter prioritization.

If you’re using a tote -  reusable plastic or paper container to place the scanned items in - select yes and specify the number of totes by clicking on the plus icon or simply typing in the correct number.

As mentioned before, Single Order let’s you pick one order at a time and place it in one tote. Since we selected 3 totes, we can only see 3 orders to pick right now. 

If you don't use a tote, select No in the previous screen and all orders will be listed here.

Scan the Pick Ticket or tap the first item to pick.

Now you see the products to pick for this order. You also have an information of the quantity to pick and how much items are available to pick in this location.

You have the option to scan other locations if you want to pick from another location.

If the stock is running low or there's any problem with the item, you can directly report it to the warehouse by clicking Report button.

At this point, you scan the item to pick. Then you scan the tote you’re placing this item into.

Tote numbers are dynamically created in the system, so you don’t need to pre-generate the totes in Packem. As soon as you scan a tote, Packem will create it for you.

After scanning the tote, scan additional units of this item if the order contains more. Otherwise, tap "Confirm" to continue.

Multi-Item Batch Picking

From the options, Select Multi-Item Batch Picking to handle several orders with multiple items at once.

In Multi-Item batch picking, items in the batch are grouped by SKU to reduce walking time — but still picked by order. Each order is assigned its own tote, so as you pick, items go directly into the single tote for that order. 

Tap Confirm and finish picking rest of the orders for this item.

Once you’ve completed picking an item, just move on to the next one in the batch to continue.

Item Batch Picking

After selecting Item Batch picking from the menu, tap the Batch to pick.

Again, scan the first item to start picking! You will pick the same item across all orders and place in a tote.

Remember! With Multi-item batch you place ONE order in ONE tote. But with item batch picking you place the same item across many orders in ONE tote.

Select the total quantity and tap confirm.

Tip: If the items are placed in a box or carton with the same quantity as in the order, simply scan the box.

Simply repeat the steps until all the items in the Order are picked to finish.
