Elizabeth is the second oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet. She is her father’s favorite, the most sensible of her siblings, and is a great beauty. She also goes by Lizzy, Eliza, and Miss Bennet.

Lizzy is 20 years old, and very witty and intelligent like her father. She is playful, good-natured, and very courageous. Even though it would ensure her future comfort, she isn’t interested in marrying solely for financial stability. She truely wants to marry a partner, for friendship, companionship and love, much to her mother’s disappointment.

Lizzy cannot be intimidated or bullied, she stands up for herself and others. She is conscious of her feelings, even ackowledging her wounded pride. She is inconcered with the opinions of others, and dedicated to her close family and friends.

Lizzy prefers to spend her time reading books, sitting with her friends, and enjoying long walks. She is moderately talented at music, and can play and sing. She is dedicated to her close family and friends, especially Charlotte Lucas and her aunt and uncle Gardiner.

Elizabeth is intially proposed to by Mr. Collins. She rejects him, much to the anger of her mother. She sticks to her convictions, even though a good match would provide her with future income.

She also falls for Mr. Wickham’s charms and lies. Her kind heart accepts her first impression of him. She learns of his deceptions and becomes wary, but guilts herself when he elopes with her sister Lydia and she had the power to prevent it. She takes a majority of the responsibility for her family and sister’s behavior.

When she is snubbed by Mr. Darcy at the first ball, she refuses to forgive him. While he gradually tries to gain her affection, she becomes more and more determined to never cave to his attentions. When he disrespects her family connections during his first proposal, she is deeply hurt and speaks her mind. She eventually sees him as he truely is, and a respectful friendship grows. Lizzy is enormously grateful for his generosity and kindness to her family following Lydia’s elopement. She developes real feelings for him, they confess their faults, and beg forgiveness mutually. She and Mr. Darcy marry and they live happly as partners in friendship and love.

Lizzy is a strong heroine. While she possesses faults such as pride and excessive wit, she proves she can learn from her mistakes. She is wise beyond her years, has progressive ambitions for her time, and is a loyal and true friend.
